sick all winter, will Arizona cure me?

Ok, this might sound crazy, but I am desperate! Every since 1997 I have been sick all winter long. I just know that for 3 months out of the year I am going to ill. For example, this winter, I have had 3 respiratory infections, pancreatitis, kidney infection, 2 GI infections, tons of joint aches and lots and lots of fatigue. I live in Seattle. My father is also sick all winter and he normally gets a respiratory infection, which turns into bronchitis and then to pneumonia. He lives in Salt Lake City. We both have lupus (does not affect our skin at all though).

I have 5 little children and for me to be so sick is BAD. My husband ends up missing tons of work, my kids watch WAY too much Disney and my support system gets stretched to the max.

In the warmer months, I RARELY get sick, I am full of energy and do great.

So here is my question: If I move to place that does not have winters (ie Arizona) will I be cured? Will I only rarely get sick because it will be like a year round summer? I would be willing to do it in a heart-beat if I knew it would work but I fear uprooting my family at great emotional and financial expense if it does not end up helping.

Any advice, opinions, would be appreciated!

  • My guess, from what you are saying is that Arizona would help you, BUT your immune system is shot. THAT "little" problem (which has already become a big problem) will catch up with you, even in a warmer, drier climate, eventually. So the question is this; do you want to run from healing your body, or do you want to treat it? (of course you want to treat it)I don't know how your immune system got to the state it's in, but there are tons of things you can do about it if you choose to. With five children, I have a feeling that you're that LAST one on the list of people to take care of. That HAS TO CHANGE. Remember how the stewardesses used to tell us to put the oxygen mask on ourselves first and then our child? That is where you need to be for the next two years (and then forever, of course).I only have two children but I've been on the path you're on. It's hard and depressing. There is no quick fix, but there is a fix. I love to recommend naturopaths because they look at your WHOLE LIFE, not just some symptoms or your most current illness (which is itself a symptom of your total health problem). A naturopath will give you all sorts of things that will have both immediate and long-term results for more energy, increased libido, better mental health and a stronger immune system. Please, please count the cost of moving, of continuing on with western medicine (of itself, alone) and of continuing to push yourself. A naturopath is not free, but worth every penny of your health dollar. I could go on with examples of myself and my friends, but I won't bore you. If anyone else can speak to immune system help, please do.I hope that this has been helpful to you!!

  • I have lived in Arizona for 15 years. People move here for the climate, but usually find between the pollution and allergies from dust & plants, that they are worse off. You may be better off for a short time, but it is not a good place to raise children - lots of crime & drugs. A lot of people who move her are running away from something or can't make it somewhere else. There is a lot of poverty and racial clashes. Naturopathic treatment is a better way to try. Look at your diet and try to reduce the stresses in your life - simplify. I have tried to cut out the chemicals & poor diet. I also lived in Tacoma, Washington. The high humidity wreaked havoc wiht my life due a mold allergy. You might check that out also. My biggest source of help has been m faith in God & a good church family.God Bless You!

  • Bastyr University is one of the very best natural healing centers in the country. And it is in Seattle. Please look them up and see if you can get treatments there. An alternative approach to your illnesses will surely help you. Arizona is not the answer - the last poster was right. People with strong immune systems don't get sick. There are tons of acupuncturists and alternative practitioners in Seattle. Please give this a try. Best wishes.DOM
