I have shoulder pain in my left shoulder. It seems to originate behind my shoulder blade, mid way from top to bottom. It is accompanied with pain on the tip of the shoulder radiating down my left arm with points of pain just below the shoulder, mid forearm, centre of the back of my wrist and extending into my middle finger.
This pain is stopping me from getting on with my life, keeps me awake at nights and, as a consequence of lack of beauty sleep, leaves me feeling and acting pretty ugly.
To my knowledge there was no accident or injury causing this pain. The onset followed a motorbike ride on a cold day with a strong crosswind.
I am a male of 49 years, pretty much healthy otherwise. I have full arm rotation with no acute pain caused by movement.
I have had some relief through acupuncture and massage. After a series of acupuncture treatments the symptoms in my shoulder went, almost entirely, for the best part of 6 months.
I am currently in the hands of a physiotherapist at the suggestion of my GP.
I am taking ibuprofen/codeine for the pain, but I would very much prefer not to do this. The application of heat relieves the pain somewhat.
