My grandmother (78) has been experiencing the following symptoms for the past year:
-severe left shoulder and wrist pain (sometimes so bad it keeps her bedridden, and other times it will keep her up all night)
-finger numbness on her left hand (usually in her third and fourth fingers)
-fatigue (to varying degrees)
For the past two weeks she has also been running a low fever and has been severely fatigued.
She has been tested for Rhuematoid Arthritis, Lupus, and a disease similar to polio (I can't remember the name of it), but all tests to date have come back negative. For a while, her doctors thought it could be carpal tunnel syndrome, but have since discounted that diagnosis. They also thought that it might be regular arthritis, but have backed off that analysis as well. She has had cortizone shots and has tried various medications. She had more testing done this week, and we should get those results by Monday or Tuesday, but her doctor is baffled. He is concerned about the fever.
Has anyone experienced these types of symptoms? Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!
