Should I be alarmed, or just take precautions? Having feminine problems...

I haven't been having the greatest experience being a woman for the past decade (actually, a little longer than a decade now)!

It all started out with a ferocious menstrual cycle at the age of twelve which defies verbal description in terms of pain and had a highly irregular and painful menstrual cycle in the many years following this. Luckily the pain has started to subside in the last year, but something sinister seems to have settled in; I started to notice an atrocious, varying odor a few years ago that comes and goes to a greater or lesser extent but never is truly gone. Now, on top of this strange odor, I have pain and a light burning sensation when I orgasm. This pain only seems to shoot from the left side of my vagina up to a specific point in the left side of my abdomen and is a sharp pain that subsides a few minutes afterward and the burning sensation actually seems to be around my urethra and vaginal opening.

I have had pap smears in recent years and have been checked out and do not have an STD, yeast infection, or bladder infection, yet I have these issues which are quite embarrassing and make me feel like less of a woman which won't go away. My last pap smear was also called, "abnormal", but I do not have a regular doctor to go to who could find out why. I went to a clinic to have this last pap smear. Although it was "abnormal", I was told that I didn't have any infection or STD, as stated above. Also, during this last pap smear, the doctor commented that I looked inflamed. I'm obviously very concerned about what this all could mean. I don't want to freak out, on one hand, but on the other, I don't want to ignore something which could potentially be serious.

I have been hoping that it is just something simple, like needing to start wearing only cotton underwear and stop using soaps with fragrances and chemicals down there (I just did some research, actually, and realized that I had been doing basically everything a girl could do wrong in terms of vaginal care; I would wash with soap very extensively to try to get rid of the smell, which only made it worse, would use bleached toilet paper and feminine products, which also had fragrances imbued all throughout, I would wear tight pants, etc) and start using a pH balanced organic feminine wash or something, or drinking more cranberry juice, etc. I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience with a really rough period, sharp pain with orgasm, bad odor that seems to change from day to day, excessive and odd-consistency discharge, but who doesn't have an STD or infection detectable through pap smear and if you can tell me what is causing this and if I have cause to be alarmed, or should just start taking other precautions and home remedies.

Thanks, and sorry for the not-so-pleasant nature of this post!
