Sharp pains in feet

I've been having numbness in the balls of my feet for nearly a year, and it has progressed first to tingling and burning pain and then to sharp shooting pains in the toes and bottoms of my feet. Now it seems to be going up my legs and I cannot cross my legs without them feeling like they fall asleep and become painful. The least pain I get is when I'm on my feet! The worst is when I'm lying down. I have no loss of muscle strength, however. It feels neurological. I'm having trouble sleeping due to this, since I'm awakened constantly by it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
