i'm not exactly sure what type of exam should i get, and how many types are they? i know there is stds and hiv...

also i've been having vaginal discharge for over two months now i haven't really taken any exams yet i was hoping it'd go away which it have for a day or two before and at first it was a yellowish discharge with a bad smell and now it's sometimes yellowish, sometimes a little white, and the smelling isn't as bad anymore. so what should i do now? thanks.

  • This can be a variety of things...most common would probably be a yeast infection. The yellowy discharge with a foul small is indicative of bacterial vaginosis or worse. Guessing and waiting is not good...get to a doctor or gynecologist RIGHT AWAY!! I've been dealing with bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, and urinary tract infection back & forth and back & forth for the past 5 months. The sooner you treat, the better you'll be :)

  • ive been cleaning the area a few times a day, and even the inner area too. now it seems that the yellowish smelly discharge hasn't been shown as much the past couple of days, maybe it's already fine? so if the symptoms go away does it mean everything's better already and i don't need to check with the doctor.. because i wouldn't want to.. thanks

  • you can get checked at your county STD clinic for free. Could be:syphlilis, chlamydia...and a bunch of others...then, to be totally sure, you need to get checked for hiv/herpes 2/ hepatitis.--hpv-with a pap/ why do you wait? The longer you wait, the greater your chances of becoming sterile.

  • Monsterlove is right u really need to get tested, some times with some STD's the symptoms can pass but u still have STD.......its very important to get tested & treated or it will be alot worse in the long run. DON'T WAIT ! Also some people can be carriers & not have symptoms or they have ignored the first signs ! Good luck ! :)

  • Foul smelling and yellow, if you can add frothy or slightly bubbly to this you have Trichomonas vaginalis a flagellated single celled critter. Like yeast infections this can make you itch. The two main types of sex exams are those that check you up to see if everything is in the right place and functioning well and those that see if you have any infections, or STDs. Of course they can be combined.Best wishes for good health
