I have a severe sore throat. The pain radiates into my ear if I cough, swallow etc. Even the skin on my scalp is sensitive. I have no ulcerations, no fever - lymph nodes are swollen. I went to the doctor yesterday - has no clue. We did a strep culture - negative. Previously I get similar pain - My gums will get sore in a spot - they may be a little red - no ulcerations - they feel a little swollen. But like my throat now the pain is severe - for lack of a better explanation - it feels like the nerves are exposed and when anything touches it the pain is extreme. Somewhere on my face or head the skin will be sensitive to touch. This happens at random times and I can't figure out what brings on the onset of symptoms. It will go away on its own in 7-10 days - but during that time I am miserable. So far no one has been able to diagnose or treat. I have tried my dentist and doctor. Please help - Thank you

  • Ouch! Here is a long list of possibilities: http://www.fpnotebook.com/ENT/Mouth/PhryngtsCs.htm Looks like they tried to find the most common things. Now it's time for them to check for uncommon ones. I would see an ENT.
