The pain in my shoulders started 3 weeks ago. I am a 36 year old in relatively good health and until a year and a half ago, very active and fit. I woke up one morning beginning of November to severe shoulder pain (left). Thought it would go away and it didn't. I had an MRI taken of both shoulders which indicated tendonitis and bursitis. My concern is that there was no precipitating event to cause the injury; I am now having joint and muscle pain throughout my body. My joints are cracking all the time. My muscles are on fire. I am in so much pain. The only thing that has helped somewhat are corticosteriods. NSAIDs and other pain killers do not touch the pain. I have had similar problems in the pes anserine tendon (left knee) for the past 1 and 1/2 years although no where near as painful. Went to a rheumatologist today. Got very little help. Didn't suggest any other tests. Also was on Celexa and Chantix (smoking cessation) when all this mess occurred. Have been off all meds other than prednisone. Any thoughts or suggestions as to what I should do next?

  • I cant give you advice, but I sympathize and relate alot to you. I am 37, have had bursitis in left arm for years, but last 3 weeks pain in both arm joints, both knees, both hips, shooting pains, exhausted walking short distance etc. I am seeing a rheumatologist today... but seeing we have so much in common I dont have much hope now. If I get any relief though I will let you know any insight on the problem. They already did blood work and said its not arthritis. But its in all my joints and my muscles ache so bad. Its got to be something. Ill get back with you.

  • Sorry, no luck here either. I was told I dont have arthritis and he dont know why the MD sent me to him in the first place. So more missed time from work, sleepless nights and 2 steps back and the pain has increased. I dont know where to go from here.

  • I had severe shoulder and neck pain and have a bulging disk in my neck but nothing helped. I had a series of injections in my cervical spine. I went to a Pain Clinic and was diagnosed with a nerve damage between the Vertabra. I had the new procedure where the nerve is cauterized with radiofrequency. This has helped me so so much. I have lived pain free for over a year. This is a delicate procedure and needs to be in the hands of a real professional. You have to be awake with nothing to kill the pain involved and is quite painful. But it was well worth it. I suggest talking to a orthopedic surgeon.

  • Rheumatoid arthritis can start in one place and cause the sensation you describe. Have you seen a Rheumatologist?
