Since age 7 I have suffered with what was diagnosed as asthma. Over the last 14 years it's gotten much worse. I get mult resp infections per year and with each infection i cannot breath. i get extremely short of breath, can't talk i'm so SOB. Can't walk. Can't eat. Sometimes my oxygen levels dip to the low 80s. I've been hospitalized over 200 times yet the docs all say "this isn't asthma", but they don't know what it is. Sometimes i wheeze, sometimes i don't. Sometimes i cough. It's always associtied with a lung infection...bronchitis, pneumonia, ect. I've been treated with steroids, albuterol, magneium. It seems to help but the side effects are horrible. Lately the docs have started blaming me saying that it's anxiety. I really don't think this is the case. I've also had two pulmonary embolisms in the last year. My pulmonologist now says that he will not treat me medically and wants me to see a psychiatrist. I've had four psych evals and all the psychs say it's medical. No one knows what to do. I've been intubated several times and on bi-pap a bunch. I'm scared at this new "no treatment" technique that I'll end up dead. Anyone heard of anything like this?

  • Hey thanks for the reply. Are you a doc? I'm an ARNP and I still can't figure this out! lol. Anyway I was wondering if you'd give me some details on those tests and what they looks for and what they are. I went to National Jewish Hospital last year and they did like every test in the book. I have the bronch and it almost killed me-My lungs don't tolerated anything being put in them-I ended up on a vent in the ICU for 8 days. The only thing that really shows up abnormal are all my inflammatory markers are super elvated. I've been tested for what feels like everything in the book. THANK you again for your note. i just feel so hopeless and am quite honestly scared I'm going to die.:confused:Alpha-1-Antitrypsin level (Very important),Bronhoalveolar Lavage Analysis,Pulmonary Scintigraphy,Complement test(C3,C4)
