For the last 6 months I have been experiencing progressively worsening shortness of breath. My Primary Care Doctor thought Asthma. Asthma meds had no effect. He then thought COPD or lung disease. I saw a Pulmonary Doctor, and my x-rays, and Pulmonary tests were all normal.
As my shortness of breath is on when I'm standing and moving. I can't walk across the house without being winded.
THe Pulmonary Doctor suggested an Anxiety/stress attack. My shrink says no way, that's not it. So I'm back to my Primary Care doctor, and having a Phyiscal next week. Are there any tests (out of the normal yearly stuff) that I should request my doctor to do? I have no chest pain associated with it, but I am quite fatigued. I do smoke less than a pack a day... I quit drinking completely over 11 years ago, and I carry about 20 extra pounds. At 52 I'm no Olympic athelete, but I'm frustrated in trying to get my doctor's attention on this. It truly is having a negative impact on my life.
Any suggestions from the forum would be welcomed. I've been tempted to just go to the ER to get the attention I feel this symptom needs. Thanks!
