Severe pain in the left testicle

Hi Everyone

The first time I suffered with this was aged 15 whilst at school. Since then 37 years have elapsed and the condition has reoccurred about a dozen times since. It is always the left testicle. The surrounding vessels swell and thus crush the testicle so that it feels like it is in a vice with pressure being applied. Yesterday it happened again (the last time was four years ago). I was in the office and almost passing out with the pain. At one point I was on my hands and knees and panting in agony, with an ashen face and a cold sweat.

I called my wife who came over and drove me home. Each bump of the car caused excruciating agony. I took some pills that I had left over from last time when I went to hospital. The condition lasts for about six hours and then goes away. Today, apart from a feeling of slight fragility and the extreme fear of a recurrence, I am right as rain.

My doctor is not the sharpest tool in the box and he hasn't a clue. Blood tests revealed nothing.

Does anyone know of the cause or a cure for this.

I fathered two children along the way and do not want any more so would be willing to lose the offending left testicle if that's what it takes to remain free of a recurrent nightmare of extreme pain.

Hoping to hear something positive.

Thank you - Bluey

  • Seemed like I knew someone with this. See a urologist, I think it was a kinked vesicle,

  • My husband has had this for years. He to suffers without warning or injury. His condition is called "epidydimitis". He saw a urologist who performed an outpatient surgery to basically fix a twist in the "plumbing" of the testicle. It was also only in one side. Find a good urologist who will probably be able to diagnose it based on physical examination.
