Severe pain in fingers/hand

I have been developing an increasing pain in my left hand. It first stared in the index finger and is now worse in the middle and and ring finger. The pain is so severe that I have pretty much lost the use of my hand. With my palm up there is a noticable swelling between the three middle fingers. Sometimes I get a random sharp pain in the palm of my hand close to the ring finger. The pain increases with sleep or inactivity of the hand. It can take up to 10 hours of working the fingers to get minimal use out of the hand and if I was to take a 2hour nap the pain would be back. I rarely drink but alcohol seems to make it worse.

My doctor has run a RA tests that came back negative. Liver and kidney tests are good. no history in family of arthritis problems. So far no tests have shown anything abnormal.

Have tried Lodine and Relafen Nsaids with very minimal results. Even hydrocodone does little if anything to reduce the pain.

The pain is a sharp piercing pain...

Never had any trama to the hand.

Any ideas on what is going on???? thanks.
