This question is about my 22 wkS pregnant daughter;
She has been hospitalized twice in the last 12 days because of severe sharp stabbing pains just below her rib cage on the mid back. The first time it was assumed that she had a kidney infection. She received fluids/antibiotics then was sent home after a one night stay. She muddled through the next 4 days on macrodantin antibiotics. Then the severe pains returned. She had to go back to the hospital. IV antibiotics started again. Labwork turned up to be clean. No infection. Her white cell count was slightly elevated, but no fever. Some dehydration. Ultrasound showed no abnormalities, except that it was possible that her right ureter may have been slightly kinked/twisted, which may or may not be causing urine to back up into the right kidney causing the pain because the right kidney may have been slightly enlarged. However, the doctors all seemed to think that it was just ligament pain. They gave her Demerol, Phenergan, Stadol, Talwin to relieve the pain. The phenergan seemed to relax her a little, so after 3 nights in the hospital they sent her home with Phenergan and Talwin RX. The pain never returned with vengeance this morning. Since then she has been doped up on the phenergan and talwin trying to ease the pain. She does not want to go back to the hospital because they dont take her seriously. And she is a person who has never had more than sore throat or cold in her whole life(very healthy), never been hospitalized or had any severe pain of any kind. I have researched on the internet concerning her problem and have not seen anything concerning this severe back pain during pregnancy. Please help! Any ideas?
