Hi Nanny, My body treats potassium like i am allergic to it, to the extent of an allergic rash as i am being infused. I would never praise having it infused. God knows my arm veins are like wires right now from my stay last week. But i have no other options, i do believe, for me the pick line near my heart really helped with the pain and burning and allowed me to be able to slow down on the pain meds. I dont have a chance of hyperkalemia, my natural level stops before 2.7 no matter what. My biggest problem is finding a doctor that accepts that i do not have an eating disorder and i dont take diuretics or laxitives...Finally getting care from a kidney doctor and looks like i will be staying at the mayo clinic...I could care less, having to be hospitalized 3 times a month, having the burning, the dilusions from the pain meds, the eratic heart beat, the lung surpression.....coming home and not being able to move my arms etc....it has really depleted the quality of my life along with my hubbys and kids. I have begged them to wrap my arms tight, knock me out and infuse, they wont do this, but the will in arizona and it definately helped with the pain and loss of arm use...hmmmmm God willing this will become a more recognized disease, not just for people dealing with eating disorders, but for the rest of us that it seems to be a silent killer of....Please help me find other roads, other possible reasons, competent medical proffesionals!
I know this will kill me, if i dont find help!
