Hello, My father has been experiencing severe pain in his upper gums. There is no swelling. He has false teeth but has had them for years with no problems. No one seems to be able to figure out the cause. He had surgery for melanoma on his scalp but the doctors say it isn't related. He has a pacemaker. Oragel does nothing. He is taking Vicodin but even that doesn't help. Sometimes the pain gets better but we can't figure out why.
Thanks for any suggestions

  • Don't know much about false teeth, but do you have to change the fit periodically? As you get older, does the bone density decrease and do the false teeth just bang around the gums causing trauma?

  • Wondering if he has any small lumps in the gums anywhere, even tiny one's ?Could be blocked glands (which can cause extreme pain in the mouth) my dentist found 2 in my mouth as I kept complaining about terrible aches despite no holes or cavities. Just a thought anyway, I hope he figures out what's causing the pain :)
