I have been having excruciating breast pain on one side only for a year and half. I have been to many doctors and many tests. A neurologist thought it may be neuropathic pain, but we can not find the cause of the neuropathy. I recently had a breast mri and spoke to a breast surgeon who told me the mri was normal. I asked her to help me figure out what it was because it effects the quality of my life. I have been keeping a log for over a year. It is NOT related to my menstrual cycle. It is pretty much every day, some level of intensity, from 1-9. Above a 7 it feels like I should go to the ER. The pain is NOT RIGHT and there must be some scientific cause, but no one has come up with one. the breast surgeon said it may be time to consider it's non cyclic breast pain, and she even told me she has done double mastectomies on some women for it. I was dumbfounded. I am looking for other women that have same experience, because it just doesn't seem possible pain so bad can have no known cause.
pain description below.
right breast, under breat, side of breast. Multi layered. heavy deep constant burning type of pain, coupled with slow shooting jabbing stabs of pain that come and go. Some times every 30 seconds. Sometimes the shooting part isn't there at all and it's just the heavy, deep contstant pain. There are no triggers and nothing helps.

does anyone have similar problems????:(

  • Did you ever get a diagnosis or relief from the pain. I have severe pain in both breasts. My family doctor gave me Tramadol and a neuropathy med which reduced the pain from a 10 to a 5-6. I see a back doctor April 7 for a back history to see if there is a tie in.
