Can someone please help. I am 27 years old and my abdomen is constantly swollen to the point that I look like I am 7/8 months pregnant. It is huge. The doctor has given me Zelnorm to try for irritable bowel and that hasn't helped at all. I know I have an ovarian cyst but it has been there for years and just over the last couple of years have I started being so bloated all the time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am so small about 5ft tall and weigh around 120 lbs. so my stomach really draws a lot of attention. Please help!

  • You need to get a recent ultrasound of your cyst to see if it has grown, or shrunk, in size from the last time you had it checked. An ovarian cyst can cause severe bloating and pain. Do you tend towards constipation or diarrhea? Do you have a lot of gas with the bloating? I recommend trying digestive enzymes and fresh ginger to help, and acupuncture as well. But get the ultrasound to rule out an enlargement - if it were to burst, it is an ER emergency. Best wishesDOM
