I am 48 years old and the last few months noticed that the top of my head (almost center) I actually feel a separation in the bones. Is that something I should worry about? It seems to come and go. I found it one day while combing my hair and it seemed a little sensitive....but really doesn't hurt.

  • It may not be completely separate, and the rest of the skull will keep it in place. Over centuries in many cultures they made a hole in the skull, with only skin growing over, so that the brain can have some room to expand. This helped them to have spiritual experiences. On the heads of medieval Christian monks you can still see a round shaved spot, and Jews often wear a small round cap - it indicates that old practice. Children are often born with a hole, it takes time to grow closed.

I turned 48, this last November. All of a sudden about 2 months ago I alao came across an indentation on the top of my head. Its like my skull is seperated I beleive its getting bigger (longer) its a little to my left of the center. It starts just about my hairline and goes back about an inch and a half. Have you ever found out what it is or anything about it?
    Please let me know.
