I can remember as a small child (5 yrs old) and my experience in going to kindergarten. I THINK I may have had separation anxiety - although 55 years ago it certainly wasn't diagnosed.
I remember crying EVERY SINGLE DAY throughout kindergarted and even partially into first grade because I just didnt want to go to school.
I would get an uneasy 'empty' kind of feeling.
Today, I STILL get the same feeling when leaving the house to go to work, especially in the fall, when it's cool in the morning. I get a 'flashback' of walking to school (and not wanting to go). Fortunately, as an adult, the feeling passes quickly.
Any remedyfor this? Anyone have the same experience?

  • More like it sounds like something happened to you and you're having anxiety about. Especially, if you keep going back again and again to the same incident. Are you a survivor of abuse or sexual assault as a child?Flashbacks are a symptom of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which is caused by experiencing something outside the norm. The only way out is through the pain and the memory. There is no other way to stop these flashbacks from occurring. I know because I've had similar things happen. I am nearly through my healing journey, at least this part of dealing with the memories. Mine has been a particularly long journey because of what happened to me. Yours maybe shorter. You can do this journey many ways. Find the right way for you; writing, talking to a friend, speaking to a counselor, art, dance, etc.
