I have have been dealing with leg pain that starts at my lower back, down my buttocks, down my legs to my ankles - both legs. I have seen a vascular specialist who diaganosed me with Lyphadema. I also saw a neruosugeon and had an MRI done of my back. I have two slight bulging discs and two pinched nerves on each side of my back. The neurosurgeon said that he doesn't recommend surgery but possibly physical therapy. I don't think that's the answer. I am a "plus size" woman too and no diabetes. I am at a loss at this point. No answers and at dead end. Meanwhile I have severe leg pain keeping from normal activity and working. Can someone please give me advise? Oh and I am currently on "Jenny Craig" to loose the weight.

  • I would go with what the Neurosurgen says and if it gets worse g back to him and see what he recommends.Ive just been diagnosed with RSD after months of thinking it was just a trapped nerve!! Hope this helpsP.S Physio didnt help in my case, but I suppose it wasnt a trapped nerve.:( Andrea

  • I have that reoccurring problem, but after a few chiropractic adjustments, I'm good for several months or more. I was 10 lb. overweight the last time I needed adjustments - lost the weight and have been good since. A big plus on the 40 lb. total weight loss I achieved, was the self confidance I gained.I feel better and can breathe easier too. If you can't do it for you, Jenny won't do it for you either! Good Luck!

Oh and I am currently on "Jenny Craig" to loose the weight.I fully understand your suffering because I too suffered from that ailment years some years back. The excruciating pain radiating from my lower back to my legs was agonizing. Walking was extrremely difficult and climbing even few plight of stairs was an ordeal. My doctor prescribed physical therapy-manual back massage, electric massage, lumbar traction and some muscle relaxant/pain reliever medication. After a month of the therapy, I stopped because there was only very little relief aside from being expensive. Fortunately, desperate for help, I found in a Manila bookstore a paperback with "Is Your Back Killing You" boldly written in its cover. The book authored by a Dr. Lim, an asian , offered stretching combined with deep breathing exercise. The step-by-step procedure was clearly described and easy to follow.I performed the exericises religiously and after 2 weeks, the relief was remarkable. That was 16 yrs. ago. Now I only experience some occasional back pains especially. after some strenuous physical activity but after repeating the exercise, relief is immediate. My mother-in law barrowed the book for her recurring back pain but lost or misplaced it. Maybe there are doctors in your area who advocates this exercise approach to healing back pain.Perhaps they can help you. I am 58 yrs. old, filipino, a father of 3 children, living in Davao City, Philippines.God bless.
