My 8 year old son has had a runny nose for at least 5 years. Before that he had ear infections and an occasional runny noses.

He had tubes put in at 4, adnoids and tonsils removed at 6, surgical drainage done at 7. Way, way too much surgery. Nevery again. None of it helped with the runny nose. We've tried a netti pot, various sinus sprays, steroid sprays and various over the counter and prescribed meds.

He has been thourougly tested for allergies and has none.

When he doesn't have an infected, green runny nose, it runs clear, constantly, mainly out of one side only.

What could be causing it? I would like to just let it be, it's just a runny nose after all, but it ends up getting infected and it runs constantly. Other kid are noticing, it runs into his food, etc.

The docs are stumped.

Any ideas? How can we get this to stop? Thank you!

  • Parasites can easily cause those symptoms because the body produces large amounts of histamines in the intestines to try to kill/reduce parasite growth in the body. A child with a runny nose or watery eyes can easily be overwhelmed with parasites.I personally saw my spouse go thru every single inhaler, pill and drug ever invented trying suppress his annoying runny nose. Nothing ever work.I gave him one pill of wild oil of oregano, and voila- his runny nose is history. He know sleeps with less clothes and never "catches a cold" either. For children I would recommend something a bit milder , such as grapefruit seed extract, which is completely safe but effective on parasites, yeast, bacteria, and viruses!Even if your child don't seem to have allergies, you may want to cut back on sugar, milk, wheat, and bottled juices just to what is required for a healthy diet and add other healthy foods that are often underestimated. Sugar feeds the parasites, milk produces mucus on most of us, and wheat really lower the immune system defenses. Also, feed her some flaxseed oil every day and some bitter herbs like watercress and spices like turmeric and coriander (yum). If this does not work, please take your child to the best Doctor of Oriental medicine you can find in your area.Good Luck!Best.

  • I completely agree with last post. Parasites and candida can cause these and they wouldn't show up as an allergy. DOM's can help this. Chiropractors too. Also, I suggest Hyland's homeopathic remedy Pulsatilla. This is a great remedy for children and is for runny nose with discharge and kids who tend to be a bit clingy when ill. Best wishes.DOM
