I am a 23 year old male who suffers from consistent facial redness, but I have never been given any other explanation from a doctor besides, "That is just your skin type". I do not have any acne or enlarged nose size as described as effects of rosacea, but rather I just have facial redness, mostly in the cheeks. It is not to the point where I avoid social interaction, but I do feel embarassed by this, mainly because I look "different" than everyone else. I was wondering if there are any products that could keep my redness at bay? Thanks.

  • It definitely could be rosacea. You don't have to have the cherry nose to have it. Does it itch or feel warm? Do you have any raised bumpy areas? Rosacea is pretty common and can be treated with a topical cream. Try to see a dermatologist who should be able to diagnose... Green tea is great for the skin and has antibacterial properties. Steep a tea bag and wash your face with it - don't rinse off. Follow up with a good aloe gel - a great one is called Herbal Answers Aloe Force Skin Gel. You can google this product. It is brilliant and has colloidal silver and other herbs in it. Hope this helps.Doctor of Oriental Medicine

  • Thanks for your help. I will try everything you suggested. I do not have any bumps and it does not feel hot or irritated---I use a daily moisturizer (Oil of Olay for sensitive skin), so my skin is not dry by any means. Maybe I will try a different moisturizer. Thanks.

  • For quite a while I had red cheeks and it was definitely "different" from everyone else--and people asked me what was wrong. It is rosacea (on me) and one of the things that was recommend is to stop using soap on my face. There are some non-soap facial cleansers and that helped. I was told to avoid getting sunburned on my face. Also another symptom of rosacea was tiny little acne--practically unnoticeable to anyone but me, like little white heads all across the redened area. I use Metrogel (prescription) topical sparingly and it helps. I'm sure there are newer topicals on the market these days. Good luck. Definitely stay out of the sun and use a good sunscreen.
