These are my symptoms, had them on and off 5 or 6 times this year: they usually last around a week or two.

Constant headache that won't go away.
Sore throat - dry
Swollen and painful glands under chin, under armpits, in neck front and back, so big last time that it hurts to move my neck.
Trouble sleeping due to sore neck (glands).
Fever which has reached 39 C.
Absolutely exhausted, need to stay in bed for days.
Lingering exhaustion and feeling of hopelessness for a few weeks afterwards.

I used to get similar symptoms when i was kindergarten aged, mum took me to the dr's several times and they tested me for glandular fever. It came back negative each time. I went to a specialist paediatrician who couldn't find anything, i was diagnosed with a "glandular-type fever".

this year i have been to several different doctors, one who dismissed it all and said "you have a cold", the other tested for glandular fever twice but again it was negative. At the time one of my closest friends AND one of my housemates had glandular fever, and my symptoms matched so it made sense to me.

Recently i couldnt get into my dr so went to emergency, where they found i had pneumonia and abnormal liver function. However my liver function was fine earlier in the year when i was tested for glandular fever twice.

the recurring symptoms were not caused by pneumonia each time though, and the liver problems obviously didnt cause them either.

Not sure if the liver thing is even related to the rest, but i am so sick of the dr's going "it might be glandular fever. no its not glandular fever. sorry cant help you"'

My brother had it and it causes swollen glands follwed by 4-6 weeks of extreme fatigue. He was told it could recurr if he didn't give himself enough time to recover and tried to go back to normal activities too soon.
