My boyfriend has a wretched infection that he simply cannot shake. This has been going on for almost a year now. He has just finished yet another course of antibiotics and is still ill.
His symptoms are:-
He feels as if he is coming down with flu.
He had a set of blood tests taken almost two weeks ago and they came back clear. His doctor is now suggesting that he sees a consultant, but that takes time.
He is 66 years old and generally pretty fit and active. Until recently he has been going out and walking up to, say, twenty miles in one day with no aches and pains next day. Now, he has this bug and can't get rid of it.
He is slightly overweight (but not obese), he drinks (red wine mostly) and smokes about fifteen or twenty cigarettes a day. He doesn't have any allergies that we are aware of, apart from mild hay-fever. Apart from this bug he is generally healthy and eats a well-balanced diet with plenty of vegetables.
Has anyone had anything similar? We are both very worried about him and would love to try to get the bottom of it.
Many thanks for your help.
