I have been dealing with this problem for many, many years! A few weeks ago I had surgery to correct rectocele, cystocele and urethrocele (?). I have, for years now, felt like my rectum was coming out of my anus when I have a bowel movement. I thought the surgery would correct it. It didn't! Now, my rectum comes out a bit more than before. I went back to my urogynecologist and he said it is probably hemorrhoids. He checked and said he didn't see any and said they are probably internal and gave me a cream. I have been using the cream but it just acts as a lubricant and my rectum continues to slide out when I have a bowel movement. (about 1/4-1/2 inch). I finally made an appointment with a colon/rectal surgeon and when I made the appointment I said I think I have rectal prolapse and the woman stated that's what a lot of people think but it most likely is not that. I don't have pain, itching, blood when I have a bowel movement, but I do have a lot of mucas discharge. Before I go to the doctor, can anyone enlighten me on if this is a rectal prolapse or hemorrhoids? I am 38 and a runner. Despite the screen name I don't have a lot of tushy. :)Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
