I recently had a bad fall down a flight of stairs. (5 days ago) I was in constant pain until I went and saw a chiropractor. When I went to see the chiropractor, he asked me before adjusting me if I had experienced any of a number of symptoms since my fall. I told him "no" because I hadn't.
The day after the adjustment, though, I had one - blood in my stool. The day after, I had another one - blurry vision in my left eye. This has continued off and on since then, and is accompanied by a feeling of tightness, or pressure around and behind my eyeball. Today, I had spotting in my underwear; but the last day of my period was only 6 days ago. I can't find any info on the combination of these symptoms.

  • How long after the fall did you go to see him and have you let him know about your current symptoms since they began? Have you seen anyone else for your symptoms? Is the blood in the stool red or a blackish color? Chiropractors seem to use a wide variety of treatment styles so it's hard to say, but it would be very doubtful that the blood in the stool was caused or exacerbated by treatment. If there was an upper cervical injury that was overlooked the treatment may have worsened the injury, or it could have just been a latent effect of the fall. It's hard to say based on what you wrote. I would hope that he took some kind of imaging (x-rays) if you had a bad fall before treatment. This would show if there was any contraindication to manual mobilization which I'm assuming was performed. Once again, if you hit your head, these symptoms may have just shown up with a little time. How long after you saw your chiropractor did they appear?
