Hi - I'm new to this forum and haven't asked posted anywhere about my symptoms so I'm hoping someone here might be able to relate to my experience or allay my fears.

I'm really scared that my Doctors are unable to tell me what is wrong with me. It started a couple of months ago with tingling in my left hand/fingers, then it was tingling in my left foot/toes, then my left leg started to feel weak and weird but it didn't stop me from actually being able to do things on it. Since then those symptoms haven't really gone away (occasionally for a day or two I won't notice one so much) and I've developed new ones such as left arm weakness and muscle pain (it feels like the arm/back muscles on my left are really tired and stiff like right after lifting weights), one day my left cheek went numb and I had some face tingles, and at night especially I notice my limb muscles doing little twitches or spasms...nothing painful, just like when you get a tick in your eye when you're tired. I'm also really paranoid right now that my hair is thinning and I'm losing more than usual.

I'm under a lot of stress right now - just broke up with a boyfriend of five years, but this started a little before that. I do have panic disorder and anxiety disorders but this doesn't seem normal, even for me... could stress be causing all these symptoms?

All of these things have been occuring at varying degrees of frequency since a couple of months ago. I had an MRI with and without contrast and it was negative for anything. I also had a sensory evoke test and an EMG and only the EMG had a slight abnormality in the shoulder blad region but my neurologist said that's not out of the ordinary in a young person (I'm 26, female) and that he couldn't conclude anything or rule out anything from it.

Also - it seems like hangovers make every symptom a lot worse.

That's it, thanks so much for your comments!

  • Nobody? Is this a common thread that people are sick of answering? I'm new to this forum so I apologize if it is!

  • I think stress could cause most of those symptoms. You can have pins and needles sensations from some medications.Rxlist.com is a good source of information, including side effects. I've posted a couple of other answers to other problems and referred people to ewg.org, and elisaact.com.. a special type of allergy test. They're not posted yet, but you could find them by a 'search' under my name. Acupuncture may help you too, or seek out a holistic type doctor, a "D.O." Good luck.

  • Yes stress can do all the things you mentioned. In my early 20's I was so stressed; just married; only 21; first time to move away from home and the coast. And I tended to be somewhat of a hypochondriac anyway. ;)I know you're very stressed right now over your breakup plus you're scared of this MS thing. Maybe you might want to get some therapy. Like for just a few months. I know my son went to therapy when his 3 year romance brokeup. I It helped him a lot. ;)

  • I have very similar symptoms to you. I have left sided tingling and pins and needles, leg weakness, twitches, I also have the facial symtoms. I do not believe this is stress. I was also believed to have MS but all test have come back normal and I am still looking for an answer. I had several EMG's done and then one showed hyperexcitabily. They have also found tyroid antibodies which can signal autoimmune disease. Have you had problems with your eyes consticting to light. Have you had injury to your spine? you can email me if you like use1015@yahoo.com Good luck

  • Hi worried for me, I have the exact same symptoms as you, and it's has been months and many Dr's and test later and still no answers. I have had MRI, CT scans, all kinds of blood test and nothing one Neurogist told me because my Bood pressure is high is the reason, I have the numbness but every Dr I told that to seems suprised or said the Neuro was brushing me off. I have seen A neurogist, rhumatologist, Hemotolgist, and my regular Dr, no answers and no help. I'm 47 female.I don't know what else to do. If some one can help please help. Numbness in foot, face, hand, arm on left side of body. I think it's now starting to spread to the rightside. so far my toes. UGH!!!!!
