  • Sounds like your situation is being looked into, I know it's hard to wait ... believe me. See what the outcome is of those appointments and tests, let us know what the outcome(s) is/are. At this point, they are trying and looking to figure out what's going on; that is better and much more accurate information than you will find on a message board at this point. So my advice, for now, stay off the computer ... or you will just confuse and worry yourself, spiral around in your head, as you surf the net and see the million-and-one conditions and worry that you have one, or could have one of several ... some instilling unnecessary and false fears in you that should be avoided. I've known people that do this (not only with their own health, but that of their loves ones ... along with legal matter and so forth), and it drives them nuts ... turns out to be nothing, or something very treatable ... and all that time spent online "worrying" and "thinking the worst." Until you get some results, or results that are in question, it's a waste of time trying to figure it out and serves only to cause you much undo stress. Try to relax (yes, it can be hard ... but don't make it harder than it needs to be). Just wait and get through those tests and appointments, it may be very curable or treatable and you'll be good as new ... and you are scaring yourself unnecessarily as this point. My thoughts are with you, please post back with the outcomes after your tests and appointments. We're pulling for you!! ;)

  • Possibilities here would include Epstein Barr virus. The blisters should be cultured for antibodies associated with Pemphigus Vulgaris, although vesicle type blisters of various types can be associated with a post-viral syndrome and other disorders. It would be rare for your symptoms to be associated with thyroid dysregulation, but in some instances lingering or recurrent infections are a sign of hypothyroidism. Be sure and maintain your clinic appointments until the underlying cause has been identified or resolution is obtained. Best regards, J Cottle, MD
