Hey there,

I'm really hoping you guys can help me with a rash that I have had for just over a year.

For information, I am a 22 year old male, white.

I do have eczema however never in this region, and when I get eczema I can easily cure it with steroid cream. So I don't think this is eczema related.

I have been to the doctors probably about 6 times over this, and have so far tried the following:
- No treatment for a month
- Using Timodine
- Terbinafine
- Daktacort
- Antibiotics
- Aloe Vera Gel
- White vinegar
- Tea tree oil
- E-100 i.u suppliment (oral and on skin)
- Multibionta mixed vitamin tablets
- Anticeptic
- Sudocrem
- Disprobase
- Quit smoking
- Quit drinking

I have tried different combinations of all of these for the past year and it is really driving me mad. I feel like it's taking over my life.

Do any of you recognise this rash at all. It started as a small circle (you can sortof see it towards the bottom of the picture) and then I scratched it and it grew to that. It has stayed at that same shape for about 8 months not changing at all. Even after (I applied too much tea tree oil and burned it a lot) it scabbed, and took a while to heal, but then left that rash EXACTLY the same shape as before.

Sometimes I feel like there are three small holes in that rush, but I just don't know.

Would really appreciate any advice guys,

Thanks so much.

  • Tea tree oil shouldnt be used undiluted on the skin.. if you want to use an essential oil on skin.. lavender oil may be used undiluted and will do the same as tea tree oil and can be good at times for skin complaints. (Never use lavender oil undiluted over a big large area thou)

  • It could possibly be some form of ringworm ie a fungal infection. You said you scratched it so could that be a Staphylococcal infection in the center. You could try an over the counter anti-fungal such as Pevryl but long term fungal infections often need stronger medicines taken orally. And if there is also a Staph infection, you will need antibiotics.Unfortunately most physicians will just look at your rash and guess what you need.A skin scraping should be taken and analysed but that is rarely done nowadays.

  • Sounds like a fungal infection like sporotrichosis. Did you take Terbinafine orally? For how long? It takes three months typically at 250 mg/day.
