Rapid Heart Beat

Recently I have been experiencing sudden rapid heart beating that lasts a few minutes then goes away. In the past few days I have had it happen 2 to 3 times a day.

I'm not on any medication or anything I can really think of that would trigger it, except that I have lost a little bit of weight recently due to healthy dieting.

Please Help!

  • Hi- this is usually not a huge deal but definitely needs evaluating. Could be SVT (just means fast heartbeat that is initiated in the top part of your heart). Need EKG, and probably also a heart monitor. While you are waiting for your MD appointment, if you get the fast heartbeat again, bear down hard like you are trying to have a bowel movement. It will help make the diagnosis if you are able to tell the doc whether this stopped the fast heartbeat. Good luck, ncdoc
