My friend has been battling this p. aeruginosa infection for years.. he's had two surgeries already.. the last he was hospitalized for 4 months post op and it's been just a year since he was released. It had gone from the first episode a horrible ear infection to the second being meningitis and his ear to now having spread to his brain as well. he's had reconstructive surgeries on his ear to replace the bones in his inner ear that were eaten up by the infection, his mastoid is destroyed, his facial nerve.. and now it's possible the infection could be in his heart as well as now he's scheduled to have a procedure to relieve some pressure in his brain from the swelling next week to may 24th having a pace maker put in. My friend is only 40. If anyone can give us some ideas.. is he not being treated properly? is there another course of antibiotics he could try? not sure all that he's been on previously. Any kind of help or someone that can relate would be nice.
