Problems breathing

Have any of you ever had trouble taking deep breaths? I just can't breathe deep for anything. I do this in spells and right now it's really bad. I went to the ER once for it (my mother made me) and they did x-ray's, ekg's, etc and found nothing. They finally decided I was having a panic attack and put me on Zoloft. It helped, but I've noticed it increases my migraines, so I've weaned myself off. I also smell cigarettes all the time ( I promise I'm not crazy). They're not there, but I smell them. My parents smoked while I was growing up and I hated it and I always caught myself holding my breath. When I make myself take a deep breath, I smell the cigs worse. What's wrong with me?
