My husband was diagnosed w/ Pneumoccocci about a 3 yrs ago and has been taking Fluconazole 600mg daily. At first it started as a regular cold w/ very high fever. Once doctor's took x-rays they were able to determine that it was Pneumoccocci. Per my understanding this is a fungus that grows on dirt but when inhailed enters the body and sticks to the lungs and very difficult to treat w/ medication. I'm now worried that my husband's condition is not getting any better since he has had a rash on his body, severe night sweats and has had blood sputum on three occasions. At this point I'm desperate to find out if anyone knows about any other treatments for this desease.

  • My husband was diagnoses about 2 years ago.. He had night sweats where he soaked the sheets and pillows, bad headaches, sore throat, dizziness and fatigue. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and with the chest xray had nodules and holes in his lungs. He was put on 800 mg of the fluconazole.. His doctor wants to do a lung biopsy next. The other treatment for this is intravenous meds and it is more aggressive than the pills. I think it is done weekly and takes an hour or two. That may be our next course. Some people get rid of it much more quickly. My husband is also a diabetic and it takes much longer for their systems to rid of infection. Hope this helps and your husbands get rid of this.
