I have unusual symptoms on my fingers: thickening skin of fingertips; small (but painful) fingertip hemorrhages; thickened fingernails; some numbness of middle finger; red, painless patches on top of hands. Nails are half white, half pink. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

  • Half and half nails are assoisated with uremia. Uremia itself give very few symptoms until the kidney is badly damaged. Urea and other waste products, which are normally excreted into the urine, are retained in the blood. You need to have a blood tests done and talk to your doctor about it as soon as possible. There are also some other conditions that can cause elevated levels of urea in the blood, so please do not get to worried. Read more here: http://www.parkhurstexchange.com/node/5047
