we Are Now 2 Weeks Into This, and The Doctors Are Still Stumped! My Sister, Who Is 30, Complained Of Headaches Off & On Since Thanksgiving. About 2 Weeks Ago, She Started Having What She Tought Were Mild Seizures(tremors, panic, Odd Smells, Short Term Memory Loss). She Was In & Out Of The E.r. Several Times For These Symptoms. The Hospital Did Mri,eeg, cat Scans, blood Tests,etc.... And Found Nothing Abnormal. Her Husband Came Home From Work & Found Her Wandering Around Outside Naked. She Destroyed Everthing She Could Get Hold Of In Thier Home. She Would Only Sleep For A Ccouple Hours At A Time, Only To Wake Up With The Same Odd Behaviors, Along With Severe Muscle Twitching & Jerking. She Did Not Realize She Was Doing Any Of This! Again He Took Her To The E.r. & They Decided To Send Her To A Larger Hospital W/ More Specialists. My Sister Is Now In I.c.u. In Serious Condition! They Continue To Do M.r.i., Eeg, Cat Scans, Blood Work, Urine Tests........ And Still Have Found Nothing! She Is In A Demented State, And Doesn't Know Where She Is. She Has Severe Muscle Twitching. And Seems Extremely Agitated At Times. She Rants About Stuff That Doesn't Make Any Sense, And A Lot Of The Time What She Is Saying Is In Repetition. Her White Blood Cells Are Slightly Elevated, But Other Than That We're Empty-handed. At First They Thought It May Be Encephalitis, Now They're Saying No & They Can't Find Anything! If You Have Any Idea, Please Let Me Know.

  • I read about CJD recently - this sounds like something with similar symptoms. The book mentioned that it's now possible to test a live patient for CJD - it once was only possible postmortem. Although I think it will only be found if it's specifically looked for.I'd spell out the whole thing, but my spelling isn't up to it... If the doctor doesn't recognise acronym CJD, try 'mad cow disease' - which I can spell, but which is much more emotive than the acronym...Helen

  • It sounds like she may be ingesting a poison. Have they taken hair samples or blood samples to test for poisons?
