I was informed of a disease over 8 months ago passed along through water, as in a sneeze. The woman who told me about it suffered with many symptoms and she collapsed eventually after being treated for diabetes, blood pressure problems, high cholesterol. She was diagnosed after collapsing and being in a hospital at Syracuse NY for 3 weeks with a tropical parasite. I have been suffering these symptoms:
--Cough that is persistent and leaves a residue that drys into a white flake even the spit.
--unsteadiness and light-headedness
--menstrual irregularity
--sugar imbalances- I have been diabetic since I was 5 but my 3 month hemoglobin readings are between 5.8 and 6.3
--itchy skin, it feels like hives and has only reoccurred 3 or 4 times in the last month in a half
--clumsiness- I pick up something and it falls through my fingers, like a salt shaker
--heavier hair loss not in clumps but every time I brush my hair a handful is in left in the brush
--low back ache that feels like my menstrual cramps and lasts for days with out a pain killer
--slight fever on and off
--persistent boughts with bronchitis
I started being treated for Asthma over 3 months ago because of the coughs and the bronchitis, but I still have the harsh cough and the residue.
--my skin feels dry all of the time and I drink between 1 and 1.5 gallons of water 5 days a week and more tea and half gallon of water on the other days.
--I loose my voice on a regular scale but fresh air and corn syrup help to revive it. The corn syrup helps for about 15 minutes.
--my cheeks get really dry and turn a really bright red
--I seem to bruise and get cut really easily
--back in June previous to the cough, I had a bulge form inside my groin near my vagina for 3 days and then it disappeared
--there are either bone spurs or other lumps on my right foot, on the inside outside and now also a lump in the middle of my foot that has formed in the last month
--on the outside of my nose a hair has started to grow just like the hair on top of my head
--the inside of one of my nostrils is very dry and has cracked once
--my hands have gotten cut and it has taken over a month and a half for the cuts to heal
--I sleep and drool every other night at present and only in the past when my thyroid was off but not as much- I am on 100mcg of synthroid and have been for over 1.5 years
--I am tired regularly, it may be from my irregular work schedule but for the last 3 weeks on my days off I sleep between 12 and 16 hours
--I have had my leg muscles relax like spaghetti twice, and I have collapsed, in the last two months and my sugars were over 80 at the time

History- I have been insulin dependent diabetic since I was 5, I have been treated for hypothyroidism for the last three years, I am now being treated for Asthma- which my mom has had for all of my life. I have been tested for Lupus and the tests were negative, my mom was diagnosed with Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. I weigh 153 and am 5.5" I look thin and carry a lot of weight in my bones and muscles but I have lost over 15 pounds in the last 3 months. I eat a lot of oat and wheat foods and I have been eating my yogurt and fruits on a daily bases. I also eat a lot of chicken and low fat beef and venison.

  • Try getting tested for food allergies. There are two types of food allergies and allergy tests: a skin test for immediate-onset allergies and a IgG RAST or ELISA test for delayed-onset allergies. You could be eating something that you are allergic to, causing small intestinal damage, and as a result have malapsorption problems and be deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. Also, cut sugar out of your diet and you will see IMMEDIATE results in your sleep and energy level. And my sugar, I mean white sugar, brown sugar, white flour, sodas, candy, cookies, anything sweet - except fruit - but try to eat low sugar fruits like apple or grapefruit.

  • Thank you for the information, food wise I live with a very regular diet, and I don't eat sweets normally. I am allergic to raspberries and I do have breathing trouble around powdered soaps, perfumes, and high pollen flowers. I have now been over eight weeks with voice problems and I saw an ear, nose and throat specialist who didn't find anything wrong. I spoke clearly with no problems for 2 days last week and then my voice disappeared for the most part. I can barely whisper and it hurts to use any volume. I have not eaten anything different than I have for the last 4 years. But I am on an inhaler for asthma Q-var maybe I am allergic to that. I am trying to grin and bare it. But I am unable to communicate without gestures, I am picking up some sign language but I will need a course if this continues and who knows if I will still have a job.

  • A lot of these symptoms are things that are linked to diabetes. But has anyone thought about celiac disase? This isn't an allergy, but it can cause many autoimmune problems and is linked to Type 1 diabetes. Try here: http://www.diabetes.org/type-1-diabetes/celiac-disease.jsp http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/celiac/

  • Thank you for the references, and the name of something else to look up. I will do that online next. I went to the ER the other day and the doctor at the ER told me that I should drop medications the other doctor put me on. he also did EX rays of my lungs, and he located something in the lower left section of my lungs that he thought was fungus. But he is also doing a test of my cough sputum. I started to cough while laying on the ER bed in a semi upright position.

Have you been tested for parasites? There are two things I'd look into, one is parasites and the other is candida yeast/fungus overload. Are you on birth control? How are your periods? How is your digestion? Do you have gas, bloating, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, etc? Best wishesDOM

  • I would look back into SLE. Especially since your mother has it. Many of your symptoms fit. Also, you can 'test' negative one week and positive the next. Many people will only 'test' positively when they are experiencing a flare. It took over 10 years for me to get my SLE diagnosis! There is no real test for Lupus, just indicators. A diagnosis is made based not only on lab work, but on personal and family histories and symptoms. It's possible that the problems with your lung are due to SLE. It's common actually. The rash on your face especially, the tiredness, long periods of sleep, menstrual irregularity, light-headedness, hair loss, back ache, clumsiness, fever, dry skin (Sjorgen's), irregular hair growth, nasal sores-- all of this points to auto-immune, especially Lupus. I would try to go and see a Rheumatologist and just check into it.

  • I am definitely going to have more tests for Lupus. My mother was diagnosed after suffering rheumatoid for 20 years and her body is ruined. I talked with person who had suffered from this tropical parasite, she had been tested before she was diagnosed and she suffered a lot because nobody looked for parasites. Because of where she lived and was diagnosed and where I live and because I have contact with over 10,000 peoples each week I am concerned about the parasites. The area of Western NY she was in and the other person diagnosed is all within a 90 mile radius. These parasites are waterborne and live in the lungs, they are passed on through sneezes and local water contact such as sex or drinking dirty water.I was in the emergency room with breathing problems Thursday, x-rays showed something in the lower lobe of my right lung, they did some blood tests and 2 sputum tests from my cough. I hope they find something, but I have a visit with a specialist this coming week. Because of switching doctors I will have to wait for tests for Celiac and Lupus rheumatoid arthritis.I continue to loose weight but I am off the inhalers which are steroids and repressed my ammune system and helped my larnyx swell up. My feces are the color of bright green dye, and I have had trouble sleeping at all for the last 2 days because of joint aches and hot hands and feet. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE IDEAS AND HELP

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE IDEAS AND HELP Ask for a full fecal exam done over three day period, and make sure they test for parasites, ova, giardia, and others. I have a patient who was diagnosed with cryptosporidium. Parasites are becoming increasingly common in the US due to our varied populations. It should be tested more frequently and extensively IMO. The color of your stools - do you drink any products with food dyes? Like propel or gatorade? Certain dyes can cause your stools to be green. Best wishesDOM
