hi there im 8 days late for my period now and have taken 2 pregnancy tests which i took on saturday afternoon and they were both negative. im never usually late and my period pretty much always arrive on the same day of each month or a day or so before or after. i havent really had any of my usual pms symptoms either, however i have noticed over the last few days that i have been feeling very irritable and short-tempered. there is something else that is bothering me also as a few weeks ago i bled after sex however it was nothing like a period. it was very light and mixed with discharge (sorry for the info there) and i didnt have cramping. it lasted a couple of days then disappeared. then today after showering some blood came out and it was brownish in colour so it must be old blood. it was a very, very small amount and has now stopped. ive also noticed some slight sharp pains around my ovaries, similar to when im ovulating. im just really confused and wondered if anyone had anything similar. i have a doctors appointment but the soonest i could get it was this friday. any advice or thoughts welcomed. thanks

  • If you are not pregnant, there are many other reasons to miss a period. The sum of that being hormone imbalance. This can happen for many reasons. Stress can take a toll on estrogen, and raise progesterone levels as well causing a big imbalance. Sugar and a poor digestive or adrenal/endocrine system can cause hormone imbalance too. Soy can also cause some imbalance if you have a lot of estrogen already, it can boost it even more (which most people eating the american or european diet do). I have missed periods and had these symptoms and in the past. It worried me a great deal until I learned more about hormones and all the crazy things they can do when your life or diet is out of whack.
