I am 34 weeks pregnant- which makes this all so much worse because I'm worried about the baby. Doctors are no help either!!!!! Just take a lot of money :(
for the past couple of days, I've had a severe sore throat (so severe, I can barely breath or swallow), coughing (which now is more productive than before), horrible nasal congestion, and the typical cold/flu symptoms. However I don't have a fever.
The part that worries me, is two nights ago, I developed a hot, red, itchy rash on my upper arms that comes and goes. It gets so itchy that it keeps me up at night. I haven't slept for over 48 hours because I'm so sick and uncomfortable, itchy, and in pain.
What on earth is wrong with me??? any ideas?? I'm desperate and miserable!

  • This response will not be extremely satisfying, but here goes. You should photograph the rash, (given the transient nature), and return to your physician with the pictures. Provided your MD hasn't seen the rash (I'm betting no), having a visual record will be a valuable resource. 34 weeks is really far along, and I am sure your MD would have a very high index of suspicion for abnormalities.

  • It seems like a beginning of lyme disease...it's time to go see your dr and ask for antibiotics...The rash of lyme is not only a bull's eye as you can hear...If not better after this abx time, or if you test negative and don't want to give u tratmnet, come back here or join lymenet!Fannie

  • It could well be a virus, u can have all those symptoms without a fever, if it is, antibiotics wont work unless u develope an infection out of it. The rash could be a heat rash, I know when i was pregnant, baby was like a built in radiator. If ur worried go back to ur doctors & ask him to run some routine tests. Dont stress over things as it will not do u are baby any good, its most likely something simple. kind regards :)

  • Candida overload is very common during pregnancy, and is caused by the hormonal changes that are occuring. I actually had thrush while pregnang with my daughter - uggh... and a horrible sore throat that was not viral or bacterial. Here are some suggestions: 1. get a Neti pot or Dr. Neil Med's sinus rinse and use this twice daily, just like brushing your teeth. This is extremely helpful for sinus issues and is non drug and safe for baby! 2. research the candida connection - it can cause every one of your symptoms. I used Threelac while pregnant and it made a huge difference. You can find more at www.candidasupport.org or www.wholeapproach.com. 3. Gargle with salt water and get slippery elm tea - this is okay to take short term and will help with the sore throat. 4. Chronic sinusitis is often a problem with pregnancy...this is caused by several things, candida being the main cause. Since you are pregnant I don't recommend harsh herbs like oil of oregano, but you might want to try increasing your garlic intake - garlic is especially antimicrobial and antifungal. A good aloe product like Herbal Answers Aloe skin gel should help with the rash. Also colloidal silver used topically. Best wishesDOM

  • probably just a virus... you'll probably be over it within another week. Not much one can do about viruses except ride them out.
