So basically I've had heartburn from the age of 16 and I am now 27. I've never really tried to solve the puzzle until recently when it's become worse and realized that i've been taking nexium/prevacid for 10 years. I've had about every diagnosis possible, my family doctor and specialist have said that's it due to having too much acid and as you get older it decreases so it will eventually go away. This seems kind of wrong because it seems to only get worse as the years go on. I've also seen natural paths and they have stated it's probably due to not having enough acid and I should be taking acid supplements.
I am also now on a hypoallergenic diet which I hope does something for me so I can eventually get off these pills. Basically if I don;t take a nexium I would not be able to get through the day, and i've tried substituting it for beatine acid supplements which didn't help. Maybe I just didn't do it for long enough and maybe I just need to ween myself off the pills, I really don;t know, I feel like I;ve tried everything and I don't know who to believe. I know a huge part of this is changing my eating habits and maybe I need to do that for a very long period to see a change but who knows if that will even solve the problem. Anyway thanks so much for taking the time to read this and any help would be so greatly appreciated! All the best.
