Please help. I know this sounds odd but I am really in need of advice. I do not know what is wrong with the back of my ear. About a month ago I somehow tore a little tear in the skin under my ear, where the lobe attaches to the head. It got very inflamed and took a long time to heal, mainly because I kept accidentally re-opening the wound when I pulled my shirt off too quickly while changing clothes. It developed a rash which spread around the left side of my face/head. (This rash is not unique to this wound. It occurs often when I have any scrape or cut in my skin. My C-section caused a large rash all over my belly, above the incision.) The ear wound oozed and formed a crust, which caused it to itch even more. It was awful for about 3-4 weeks but I kept it clean and used anti bacterials like Neosporin to help it heal and it is now healed except now I have another problem in the same area; which I assume is related to the first problem (that’s why I described it).

Now I have a strange bump on the back side of my ear, right up against the crease where my ear attaches to my head. It seems to be an inflamed blood vessel or artery. The closest thing I can compare it to is a hemorrhoid  (as odd as that sounds, being that it is on the back of my ear). It itches terribly but I am managing to leave it alone for the most part. When I do (instinctively) scratch it or even push on the bump it hurts, similar to a bruise. What on Earth is this and why is it happening? Is it serious? Should I go see a doctor about it or will it go away? Please help! It is very irritating. Thank you!

  • try going to a doctor for this. It's also possible you have shingles, along with other issues.
