Hi,
First of all, thank you for viewing this. I know I will be vague in my discription... but bere with me. I also appologize for the lack of nice big medical words to help explain myself... I really just don't know any... sorry.

But ok, see, my whole life I have had auditory and visual hallusinations. Even as a child I had seen some pretty graphic hallusinations about stuff I could have not possibly known about.
I have been to MANY doctors, and I have even been to the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda MD, and no one knows what this is, But they know that is is not schitzophrenia, bi-polar, sever depression, or any known phycological or phyciatric problems. When they put me on anti- phycotics, I became violent and the halusinations became way worse than ever before. We tried many anti-phychotics, and it was the same for them all. anti-depressants don't work for me, anti anxiety medicine does nothing as well.
As far as the hallusinations go, they have been the same my whole life. it has always been graphic and had details that at my younger age I could have not known about. For example: My visual hallusinations are of people, and the anatomy is quite vivid and acurate. At my younger age (such as 5) I had no concept of actual anatomy. I thought a human heart looked like a heart on like a valentine, so when I saw these things as a child, it didn't really effect me as much as it did in my later years. It was NOT like as my knowlege of certain things grew, the hallusinations when along with my learnings. Infact, I would actually learn stuff from my hallusinations, for instance, vocabulary and diffrent subjects.
Wow, I but it will be really hard for anyone to realate or understand what I have just put down, but I don't know, I just really been getting worse, and I have no clue what to do. If anyone has any questions (which is expected) just ask and I will try my best to answer. Thank you very much for reading!

  • One thing that can cause auditory and visual hallucinations in children and adults is a rare disease called hashimoto's encephalopathy. It's a rare complication of autoimmune thyroiditis. Most patients who have it have normal thyroid hormone levels. It is diagnosed by checking thyroid antibodies in symptomatic patients.I hope you find out what is wrong with you soon. It must be very scary to have your symptoms! You are in my thoughts.

  • Well, you sound like an Indigo Child or something. Have you ever thought that this is a gift and you need to develop it through meditation and spiritual practices? Or do you think you are sick? Maybe you are normal and everyone else is abnormal. I would stop seeing doctors and go with the spiritual route, unless, of course, you think you have a brain tumor...but if you have had this all your life, it sounds like a gift. Maybe you could have your own tv show one day. You need to take up art. You would probably be a great artist.

  • Hypnagogic and hynopompic hallucinations arise when one is drifting to/and awakening from sleep. Is this when your's occur? Can you remember fully your hallucinations? Did they look into dissociative identity disorder? Have you had any brain imaging?

I have played withthe thought that I could be an Indigo Child, but I really want ot rule out EVERYTHING else before I do, but I am thinking about looking into it pretty soon if nothing esle comes. And it's funny you should say that I shoulod get into art... I am :) and I guess I am pretty good. I write alot of poetry that will soon be published and I am an avid musician. :) Interesting :)

Did they look into dissociative identity disorder? Have you had any brain imaging? No, I will be fully awake, and I have them at all times, it is a constant thing. I can fully remember my hallucinations. I think they did look into dissociative identity disorder. I have had countless MRIs... and here is the kicker, I have a benign cyst right in the part of my brain that processes sight and hearing. It is about the size of a quarter, and has never grow over all of the times i have had the MRIs. But get this, all of the doctors that have looked at it say that it should not be causing my hallucinations.

  • Just out of curiosity, is your urine a funny color at all? You may want to look into "Porphyria." There are seven or eight different types of porphyria; I have "Hereditary coproporphyria" or HCP. I also had auditory hallucinations (hearing things) as a child and young adult. This is a metabolic disorder and it changes your body's chemical makeup - almost like being poisoned all the time. I had intense sugar cravings (which it turns out that glucose, or sugar, is one of the major treatments). I would ask your doctor to test you for this. Make sure the sample goes to a very good lab (like the Mayo clinic), is preserved, and kept refrigerated. Porphyrines are very fragile and can throw off the test if the sample is not treated right. Another test you can do at home (if you can stand it!) is to collect a sample of urine in a glass jar. If it changes color considerably within three hours, you have one of the hepatic porphyrias. I hope this helps! Good luck to you !
