Hi,
Sorry if this seems to go on forever!!
I am a 19 year old female and attend college and work part time but it is nothing stressful. September 2008 I had flu like symptoms and aches and pains and a dry throat/cough. I went to the doctor and was told just to rest and drink plenty of water I was also checked for glandular fever which came back negative. I then went back a month later as my symptoms had got worse and I was sleeping constantly, felt weak, had aches and pains and my doctor done various blood tests and they showed I was anaemic. I was put on iron supplements (ferrous sulphate) for 3 months and felt slightly better while I was on them. After the 3 months were up I was called back to the doctors and a blood test showed my iron levels were normal. As of January 2009 I have felt worse than ever. I have aches and pains so bad I have been crying with pain, my bones feel sore, I get tingling and numbness in my hands and feet , I feel extremely weak with no energy and have a strong pain in my arms and legs. I feel nausea all the time and have no appetite. I get headaches and feel dizzy a lot. At night I cannot get to sleep with the pain, When I wake up in the mornings I feel as if my legs r so heavy and can hardly get out of bed. I feel more tired as I have had little sleep with the pain. I have been to the doctor six times since January now and she cannot find anything wrong. I have had blood test after blood test and have been checked for iron, thyroid, calcium, glucose, vitamin a,b,c,d. I feel angry she cannot find anything wrong and know that something is up as I feel so bad!! I am also worried I have something seriously wrong with me! The pain is starting to ruin my life at the moment and I have had to miss college for weeks and have been phoning in sick to work constantly as i have not had the energy to get ready. Recently I have had unusual bowel movements and sometimes diarrhoea and wind. I have been taking vitamin supplements and painkillers/paracetamol but it is not helping the pain. I have a healthy diet and drink 2 litres of water a day. I read about fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome which can cause IBS and I have the symptoms of these. I am going back to the doctors and have been told to see another doctor as my doctor cannot find anything wrong. Can someone please help or have u got any ideas??? I am in pain I cannot even think of the last time I felt good!

  • I had Fibromyalgia for many years and a lot of the symptoms you are having. I am not a doctor and can't tell you what you have but I can tell you that I found out what I had. I had acute acidosis...too much acid floating around in the blood stream from eating and drinking acidic foods and drinks. Go to a health food store, get Body PH test papers.Test your urine first thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything. Your body PH should be 7.2. If you are very acidic you can easily change your body PH just by changing what you eat and drink. It took all my pains and problems away like a miracle! After many years of doctors and hospitals, I cured myself by changing my body PH. Do the test and if you are acidic, contact me and I will send you info on how to bring yourself back to health. Doctors just don't know everything.

  • Yes I would definately check into fibro but you sound like you have a lot of symptoms of MS........early warning symptoms of MS can show up in people in their 20's......it's another disease that is difficult to diagnose and you definately wouldn't want to sign up for but it is worth asking your doctors about running an MRI on you. Best of luck!

  • Sounds so familiar. I went for years with the same, long before fibromyalgia was a name people recognized. I believe it started with giardia I got from some bad well water 20 years ago. I had a lot of stress then and nothing relieved the pain, I was exhausted and had a new baby, for years I suffered with little relief. My doctors had done and redone all the tests they could think of and were starting to treat me like I was crazy. High acidity because of your diet and stress and physical activity can make it worse. Then you can't sleep because of the pain and the pain gets worse because you can't sleep. Depression hit me hard. Years passed. Relief for me came from a visiting Physicians Assistant who recognized my symtoms and prescribed Elavil for me because she had seen some fibro patients get relief with it. I started with 10mg fifteen years ago and now I take 50mg each night at bedtime, and calcium and magnesium supplements. Helps me sleep. It doesn't help everyone, but it did me. I still have pain when I over do physically, I had to learn my limits. The important thing is to not panic and stress over what is wrong with you, that will make it worse. Keep a journal, what you eat, what you do, where the pain is, and how you feel each day. Do the research on fibro, and take the research and the journal to your doctor. There is no test to prove you have fibro, and it manifests differently in everyone with many different beginnings. I believe they will find someday fibro is linked to our diets and genetics that cause problems with the chemicals in the brain that control pain recognition and manage stress hormones in our bodies. Talk to other people, you will be surprised how many of us are out here. You are not alone. God bless you!

  • Hi.. it sounds like fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome. Chronic fatigue syndrome often is triggered by a virus.... and over half of those with CFS have fibromyaliga coexisting with it too. You need to find someone who specialises in this illness to rule out like illnesses and give you a diagnoses if this is your issue.

  • Acid production in the body is not simple. Others may not agree, but my advice is to go vegetarian, say for 2 weeks or longer. After that, start adding meat very slowly and see how it goes. For this two weeks also go fat-free everything, no oil of any kind, no butter, no sugar, no hot spices, and reduce all milk products. Totally avoid yeast (bread)! Cook pasta or brown rice instead, and make your own sauce from basic ingredients. Have plenty fresh veggies, steamed or cooked in water. Stir some powdered ascorbic acid into the rice before it boils, to remove molds. Eat everything immediately after cooking and don't keep leftovers. Limit nuts to four a day, if any. Deep-water fat-free fish is OK, but never fried, steam it in a microwave. Drink only plain water, about 6-8 glasses per day - if possible filtered and boiled for 30 seconds. Warm food is better, and warm water. Sprout your own mung beans - only from those meant for sprouting, other seeds have been poisoned. Where we live we know a site www.kitchengarden.co.za about that. Eat a lot of this stuff, discard the green hulls.
