about 2 years ago...i got kicked in the shin playing soccer and ever since i've had a dip in my shin right where i was kicked. It was okay for a while...it only hurt when preasure was applied...and now it just hurts aallll the time and its getting worse and its really bad and it gets worse when i run and do any walking for too long and its not as bad if i don't run...but my dad makes me run everyday so i can't just relax for a while...and i KNOW its not shin splints...i'm almost wondering if its broken but i've never heard of anyone walking around on a broken leg....please give your input!!!!

  • Did you have your leg x-rayed when it happened? It is very possible to be walking around on a broken leg. If you didn't give it proper attention when it happened, it may have healed funny. So when you step on it, the pressure is applied differently on that leg causing pain. My brother broke his ankle from rolling down a hill in a giant tire. When the doctor x-rayed it, it was broken. But there was also a previously healed break that, at that time, he thought had only been a sprained ankle.

  • I agree you need an x-rayed of the leg, it shouldn't be hurting this bad, and for so long. Make an appointment with your Doctor :)Samanthahttp://www.undiagnosedillness.org

No, I never had it X-rayed...it was just biiiggg bruise for a loonnngg time that i just limped around on (I aviod krutchess at all costs...) for a while. I just mentioned it to my mom (the X-ray thing..and right after i read this) and she said if it doesn't heal up in about a month we'll go get it checked out. Thanks!

  • hey....i have a question...if u can't answer thats fine...would it be broken and still be painful even when i'm not walking or would that be something else?because i'm just sitting on the couch right now on a laptop and it REALLY hurts right now....so i'm just wondering if that means it could be something else...thanx!~Missa

  • If you have had a fracture and the weather outside is cold or raining, many times those old fractures will ache no matter what.

  • Dear Missa995,I knew someone who has the same problem but not going to a doctor.Overtime, scarred tissues built up and caused permanent damage.I do not want to upset you by telling what happened to this person. But I do strongly advise you to get treatment AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.You will be very surprise that a simple/correct can help you in the long run. Please go to a doctor.Poodlesamy.

  • i think doing an xray right now is the best possible option to start the diagnosis with. i'd do it right now too but my mom wants to wait a few more weeks to see if it clears up by itself...and i'm on their health plan so i can't do anything without my mom or dad.do u think i should ask my mom about getting something done sooner? Did you know that one in six US adults has high cholesterol?

  • so i had my appt on friday...and he did an X-ray of it and he epected to see a calcification in the X-ray but didn't...so turns out i have a soft tissue ingury that'll pretty much be there for ever and i have to watch it take care of it and try not to keep re-inguring it and each time i do it'll hurt more and take longer to heal....but he suspects i'll get a cacification if it keeps getting re-ingured or even just bumped a little (iit doesn't take much) so hes gonne help me keep an eye on it and i have to have an X-ray of that leg every so often because if i don't get the calcification taken care of it could cause nerve damage...and i know the Dr i saw...my best friends dad so i see him a bit and hes gonna help me keep an eye on it. thanx to everyone who helped!!!! ~ Missa ~
