I am a female and at 14 i had weakness which started in my left foot it graduly progressed to a limp, i needed crutches then a wheelchair, i am now 17 and cannot stand or walk at all and use a wheelchair. I haven't walked for a year, i allways have really cold feet, i have foot drop and cannot move my ankles at all. I have no feeling in my elbows and numbness in my forearms. My back is becoming weaker. Any suggestions as to what it could be??

thank you

  • Hi sweetie.. have your doctors ruled out Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). From what ive read it is the most common inherited neurological disorders and it manifests such as you describe... feet/legs .. arms.. spine and can start around your age and leave one in a wheelchair. http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/charcot_marie_tooth/detail_charcot_marie_tooth.htm
