Started with cold symptoms and odd rash on my shin. Looked like spider bites. Malaise, difficulty breathing, rash, bounding pulse, muscle, joint, and bone pain (It hurts for my jaw to rest on a pillow.) connective tissue pain, transient low fever, weakness, dry deep cough, extreme night sweats (have to sleep on a towel or change sheets), neucrotic node in chest, malabsorption. This has gone on since Sept (rash started in July). I have also lost 35 pounds. I don't have HIV. Hep., TBWegener's, lyme, hystoplasmosis, lupus, cancer, sarcoid in lungs (although ACE level in 104 w/>60 being high). It also cycles. I was unable to work at all for 4 months, then I did pretty well for 6 weeks, functioned well with some pain control meds. It has cycled like that a couple of times. The rash swells up a couple of days ahead of the other symptoms. AND...my sister is having some similar symptoms. A neurologist found that her diaphragm is 20% nonfunctioning. Don't know about mine...maybe. If you have any ideas about what could be going on, I would be forever greatful. I am afraid of what my life is going to look like, if we don't figure this out. A year ago, I was a very active outdoors person. Hiked, fished, hunted, etc. Thank you for your help!

  • Tested for Lyme at Cleveland Clinic. They are supposed to be one of the best, but I agree that the symptoms look like Lyme. I am amazed at how little help Drs. are. Even at the teaching hospital, I mentioned tests and things that the professor did not know. Very frusrating:cool:

  • Breathing difficulty is worse with excertion, but some days, taking a shower qualifies as excertion. I think they have ruled syphillis out. I was a medic for 10 years, so the first round of tests was to rule out everything I could have been exposed to there. We have rules out lots of things. We just cant seem to nail it down.
