Over the past 2 years I have had some very strange symptoms.
In the summer of 2007 I woke up and the whole right side of my body went numb. It stayed this way for 2 weeks. After the feeling returned my right side was so sensitive. I went to go swimming in a cold lake and it felt like the water was bruising me-eventually that passed. I had a several blood tests done and 1 returned positive for ANA's.
In June 2008 I had a baby, my pregnancy was perfect. A couple of months later the left side of my face went numb-even my half of my tongue. I had a lot of difficulty speaking because I slurred so much and I was extremely dizzy. After 3 weeks this passed.
My next episode I woke up one morning so dizzy that I fell over. This lasted about 2 weeks. As soon as that got better, the right side of my face went numb-stayed that way for 3 weeks.
The worst episode so far was last November. I woke up one morning and realized that my right hand was very weak. I was scared so I went back to sleep. When I woke up I could not even move my whole right arm-it was paralyzed. The feeling came back a couple of hours later. The next morning I woke up and I could not move my right hand or arm, this time for 2 months, I could barely talk and I was very weak. Eventually the motor skills retuned but my arm/hand still doesn't feel right.
I saw a chiropractor, many doctors and a neurologist. The chiro said that my tongue was pointing to the right when I stuck it out and that is a sign of nerve damage-he saw me in my worst condition. The doctors had no clue, but tested me for ANA's and that came back negative...weird. I have had 3 CT scans all came back normal and the neurologist diagnosed me with silent migraines. I have reasearched silent migraines--the symptoms are similar but definately dont last for months at a time.
At the moment my hand is starting to get weak again and I am not feeling right. I have a very anxious/excited feeling when I am relaxing. My muscles feeling like they are stretching sometimes when I am just sitting there.
I have noticed that a lot of my symptoms start when I eat pizza? I know it sounds weird...but I had half a piece of pizza last weekend and my hand started to do this again. It may have been because I was very exhausted???
Please let me know if this sounds like something you've heard of or if you have similar symptoms?
