I was worsening if anyone knew what a PET/CT could miss (if anything).
I just had one (as a last resort) and it was clear.
However my ESR has been going up and is now at 62 (should be <20) and my CRP is also raised. My WBC's are raised (not too dramatic) and I am told I am heading toward anemia (in spite of iron pills) as my Hemoglobin is dropping. My platelets are on the rise too. Plus I am having low grade fever everyday and severe crushing fatigue and malaise. This has been going on for a few months at least.
I have no organ specific symptoms so I really can't get a diagnosis.
I have been tested for everything under the sun and everything is clear apart from these figures and my worsening symptoms.
I tested negative on all autoimmune tests and have had a chest x-ray, pelvic sonogram and a sinus CT scan. Plus the PET scan.
I frankly really do not care about numbers but I feel so unwell. My doctors have said that if there was any inflammation (even that caused by minor infection) the PET/CT would have picked it up. Is this true?
Is there anything that a PET scan doesn't catch?
Thanks for any help.
