Persistent lower leg ache

I have been having this problem since I was very young, longer than I can remember. I have been getting miserable aches in my lower leg (one or the other) in the gastrocnemius muscle.

This pain will normally occur after I am physically active and will not usually get better until after I've had a good night's sleep. Unfortunately the pain can be so bad it will keep me awake. I have no idea what could be causing it because I have no medical conditions that could cause it.

Any help will be appreciated. I'm happy to answer any questions,
