4 or 5 weeks ago i had a casual sexual relationship in which oral sex was practiced without condoms. A few days later I started feeling low abdominal pains and the shaft/tip of my penis felt sore. 9 days after contact I went to STD clinic and had full work up - all came back -ve. I went back after 2 weeks when i still had symtoms. They did more swabs and urines. They said there was a very low level puss cell infection - non gonococcal and maybe a case of Non Specific Urethrlitis (NSU). I was given 4 antibioitic tablets and told to come back after 2 weeks for a check. Ive still to do this - but i called and was told all the urine and swab tests had come back -ve. Im still in lots of discomfort. I dont get any discharge. It can be uncomfortable to pee at times - but not always - but its not really painful - more annoying as it stops the urine flowing. I get this strange pressure half way between my belly button and my penis - deep inside my abdomen - really where my belt buckle lies. Im concerened as I hoped the antibiotics would clear it up. They did a swab on tip of penis for genital herpes and i gatehr that came back -ve - although looking inside tip of penis is still quite red looking. Im really stresed about it and will go back to clinic but cant get there for a while. Help!

  • You might want to ask for a herpes 1/2 combo blood test. Keep at it...

  • Im back at the docs next week. They keep telling me dont worry im sure its nothing - try not to worry. Easier said than done. Im in permanant discomfort. Its been 3 weeks since i took antibiotics and no improvement. Weirdly enough I actually found i wanted to masterbate the other day - big mistake - sooo painful. That'll tach me to try and be normal. Going silently mad here.

  • Get the specific igM and igG blood test for herpes2. It may be too soon for the igG, but if it's a fresh case, the igM will detect it. It could be anything. You might want to get the tests done again; sounds like you got something.

  • Went to GUM clinic today. More bloods, urines to lab. Surprised I was in pain still as all results todate (5 weeks since exposure to other person) negative incl Herpes.Quick results revealed ongoing infection of some sort - and said i wasnt imagining it (I knew that for myself!). As single 1g dose of Azithromycin did nothing, I've now been given combination of metronidazole and doxycycline to take over the next 5/7 days. Started today so hoping this will do something positive. Suggested this could be a red herring - and could be bladder infection and that antibiotics I'm taking wouldnt clear this up. Not had fever though? I have to call in 2 weeks for results - se stressed out with this. Constantly feel like i need to pee - thankfully not at night too. I'm freaked out by this whole thing big time. All because i let curiosity get the better of me.
