I am a 22 year old female who has about a six week history of extremely bad lower abdominal/pelvic pain on the left side. In addition I have severe nausea but no vomiting with it. I have had some diarrhea that seems to come and go and appears to be unrelated to what I eat.
Monday July 9th I had a Laparoscopy as they suspected endometriosis but it showed nothing.
I have had a normal CAT scan, normal internal ultrasound and now the normal Laparoscopy.
I am scheduled to see a gastroenterologist next thursday.

Can anyone help me figure out what is going on here?

  • I had symptoms VERY similar earlier this year...ended up being hospitalized for 4 days and have been going through tests for 7 months!.... I was told diverticulitis, but then a gastrointerologist believed that diagnosis to be wrong. (very rare in young people)My doctor told me it was a "freak" infection...VERY bad...bad as in dangerous.Keep care of yourself, and keep going to the ER/docs...I don't really know what it was for me, but it was severe and sudden. Just stay on top of it, and good luck!

  • I have/had endometriosis; it's on the back burner right now, since my hysterectomy. Recently I developed a form of colitis. My colon appeared normal visually, but biopsies showed intense inflammation. Pelvic pain, nausea and diarrhea are symptoms of both endo and colitis. At times dealing with doctors is the worse part about having an illness. Stand your ground, do your homework and find a good doctor (easier said than done).

  • My 24 y/o daughter has exactly the same thing. We have already done the Gastro tests, upper and lower GIs. Nothing. She had laproscopy last week; nothing. She has had CT scans and ultrasounds; nothing. Went back to our PCP dr last week; running more blood tests. My fear is that they'll come back with nothing. Since last week, I've been reading up on Adrenal glands and in particular Addison's disease. Going to ask Dr. this week to check this out or get a referral to and endocrinologist. Please post if you figure anything out. My daughter's life is getting consumed by this pain, nausea and vomiting. She can't work or start college classes.

  • I had similar conditions at 26 years, had CT Scan, consulted gastrointerologist and at the end thought it might be pelvic laparoscopy and did that. Admitted in the hospital for almost a day and had few more test related to Jaundice and other major test. All reports were negative except one saying that I have Viral infection. Had the prescription to be followed for almost 2 weeks and later everything went well.
